Six Weeks of Love & Larceny is a novel built for conversation! Part romantic comedy, part thriller, and entirely about the ways sisters support each other through chaos. The questions below are designed to spark discussion about the themes that carry through the entire Secrets Trilogy.

1. Nikki and Lauren couldn’t be more different. One is juggling school with two jobs while the other is a driven journalist at The Philadelphia Inquirer. And yet, their sisterhood feels immediately real. What do you think is the foundation of their bond, and how does the author establish it so quickly?

2.    At several key points, Nikki and Lauren protect each other, even without being asked. Can you identify a moment where that protection cost one of them something? Was it worth it?

3.    The sisters clearly have different ideas about love and risk. How do those differences create tension between them and how do those same differences make them stronger as a pair?

4.    Lauren resists acknowledging her feelings for Drew, partly because of their professional dynamic. How much did that power imbalance factor into your reading of their relationship? Do you root for them, or feel wary?

5.    Philadelphia isn’t just a backdrop! From the café to Lauren’s desk at The Inquirer to the snowy streets Nikki walks at night, the city shapes the mood of every scene. How did the setting affect your sense of the story? Do you think this story could have worked anywhere else?

6.    The novel captures a very specific urban experience: being young, broke and ambitious in a real American city. Did that feel true to life? Did it remind you of any particular time or place in your own experience?

7.    Neither sister makes entirely clean choices when things get dangerous. Do you think they acted with good judgement? How did those moments affect your feelings about each of them?

8.    The tone moves quickly between banter and tension. How did the humor affect the way you absorbed the darker moments? Did any scene catch you off guard by being either funnier or more emotional than you expected? If so, which one(s)?

9.    Six Weeks, at its core, is about what women do for each other, and what they keep from each other. Where do you see the dynamic most clearly? Did it remind you of any relationship in your own life?

10. If you could ask Rebecca Gould Baeurle one question about this book, what would it be?
